House Board Fall Meeting
Nineteen members of the board of Disciples Divinity House gathered on Monday, November 14, for the board’s Fall Meeting. Trustees reviewed reports from staff and about finances. We received another "unqualified" audit report. We heard updates on the window replacement project, the “100 x $1,000” campaign, website improvements, and the exciting lineup of performers for the 2012 Talent for the House, scheduled for March 29.

Did you know that 30 Disciples in the last five years have graduated in the Masters of Divinity program at Vanderbilt Divinity School through the Disciples Divinity House? These Disciples are serving in ministry all over the United States.
Disciples House, located in Nashville a block from Vanderbilt, offers scholarships, low-cost housing, and programs in ministry for Disciples ministry students. Founded in 1927, Disciples House is one of the seven recognized institutions of theological education for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where students are supported by your Thanksgiving offering. Looking for a few Good Students!
It's "admissions season" for Divinity students. Do you know someone who should look at Disciples House and Vanderbilt Divinity School? Point them to the House's website to watch the video and to explore "Life at the D House." Applications for scholarship support and housing are available on the House website as well. Or, if you like, send us a name and email address and we will follow up.
Of course, Disciples House works hand-in-hand with the Admissions Office at Vanderbilt Divinity School. Prospective students should look at the Divinity School's site. The VDS deadline for applications to be considered for full tuition named scholarships is January 15.
Disciples House reviews applicants after their admission to VDS, but…
The Heatman Cometh
Every fall, it's the same question. When do we make the change?
Our “vintage “ or “antique” heating and cooling system, which runs on hot or cold water from a boiler or chiller, has only two settings. When it starts to get colder in October, residents begin to wonder: when will we turn on the heat? Those accustomed to adjusting a thermostat whenever they desire may not appreciate the dilemma of old whole-house systems. Once it's on "hot," it stays on "hot" until you turn it to "cold" in the spring. So if you turn to heat too soon, and the usual Nashville late fall heat wave comes along, temperatures inside stay on "hot." Therefore, long term residents…
