New Regional Minister called to Tennessee

The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Tennessee called Rev. Dr. Christal Williams as its new Regional Minister and President at a special called Regional Assembly at Woodmont Christian Church in Nashville on April 16. Dr. Williams comes to Tennessee from 17 years as Associate Regional Minister in the Christian Church in Illinois-Wisconsin. The sanctuary was full and the vote was unanimous. Dr. Williams will be the first woman and the first African American to lead the Tennessee region. She follows the Rev. Dr. Glen Stewart.

The Disciples House was well-represented at the Assembly, with numerous graduates and board members past and present in attendance. Two House graduates served on the Search Committee, which was chaired by House…

Another wonderful Talent 4 the House!

A couple hundred Disciples gathered Thursday evening, Aril 7, at Woodmont’s Drowota Hall for this amazing night of music and fellowship in support of the Disciples Divinity House at Vanderbilt and its students, who are preparing for ministry at Vanderbilt Divinity School.

Gabe Dixon sang two new songs off his just-released CD, plus Disciples favorite, “All Will Be Well,” before leaving to go to a Tin Pan South Songwriter’s Night event at the Station Inn. Maura O’Connell next brought her strong voice and glorious Irish presence to the stage, including “The Blue Train” among her songs.
