Dear Friends,

I met recently with a wonderful group of Disciples students to inform them that I will be retiring from the Disciples Divinity House at Dean on June 30, 2018.

Next summer, I will have been Dean of the Disciples Divinity House at Vanderbilt for 23 years. I’m astonished at how many great students have come through this place. It’s rewarding to me to see how they—you—have gone on to fruitful ministries in many and different contexts. The special partnership between the Disciples of Christ and Vanderbilt Divinity School here has been embodied in an innovative way. The Disciples Divinity House is preparing to enter a new phase in its life.  In August of 1995 Mark Miller-McLemore began his tenure as Dean of the Disciples Divinity House and as Assistant Professor of the Practice of Ministry at the Vanderbilt University Divinity School.  Mark has decided to retire as Dean of the Divinity House at the end of the spring semester of 2018. 

During the past twenty-two years Mark has provided very effective leadership for our Disciples Divinity House and has mentored many aspiring ministers as they prepared for their careers. This spring we will begin our search for an Interim Dean and, after that, our search for a permanent Dean. We will share more information…
