Talent 4 the House a Huge Success

The fifth annual “Talent for the House” for Disciples Divinity House at Vanderbilt gathered more than 300 Disciples from 20 Disciple congregations in Nashville and beyond on March 29. It sold out two weeks in advance. Disciples enjoyed dinner and fellowship, bid on silent auction items, and listened to Nashville musicians Vince Gill, Jonell Mosser, Thom and Tallu Schuyler, Gabe Dixon, Stuart Duncan, and student performers Allison Enari and Katie Russell. Disciple students also shared what the House means to them in their preparation for ministry at Vanderbilt. What an amazing night!

The event began in 2008 with a small “Country Supper” at Woodmont Christian Church and featured only student performers. Now organized by a committee of laypersons from local churches, it is the largest and most diverse gathering of Disciples in middle Tennessee and has raised almost $35,000 in four years to support ministry students at the Disciples Divinity House at Vanderbilt. The committee is already thinking of how to top it next year!
